Featured Art

MuralThe Main Library is home to a beautiful mural, hand-drawn and painted by artist Dennis Orlowski. The mural depicts the history of Clinton and Macomb Townships and includes special touches, such as people affiliated with the building of the Main Library. Orlowski used the theme of transportation to move the history of the mural forward. Orlowski is an art teacher in the Detroit Public Schools. The mural was a gift from the William W. Lee Family.

Libraries rely on volunteers for many of the "behind-the-shelves" tasks that require attention to detail and love of the library.  From teenagers to seniors, volunteers are sought at any age and ability.  Call Therese Peticca at (586) 226-5007 for more information or download our applications here:

How To Become A Volunteer
The first step in the process is to fill out an application and turn it in at any one of our locations. We will try to match your skill set with our needs and you will receive a follow-up call regarding what opportunities are available.
Why Volunteer?
"I like volunteering at CMPL. Good atmosphere, friendly staff and people! I am the plant volunteer. I enjoy working with the plants. I get pleasure doing so (and get no back talk!)."
