Request Materials

You can place a hold on materials that are currently checked out or not owned by your local branch. The next available item will be delivered to the your preferred CMPL pick up location. You will be notified by either email, phone, or TXT message that your held items is ready for pickup. Resident holds will be given priority over nonresident holds. You have 5 days to pick up your held items.

Other Libraries You May Use

As a participating member of the Suburban Library Cooperative, CMPL cardholders are eligible for borrowing privileges at any of the libraries in the Cooperative. You may also return CMPL items to any of these locations.

CMPL residents can borrow books from other libraries across the state and have them delivered to their local branch through the MeLCat program. To search for and request materials from the statewide catalog, choose Search All Michigan Libraries on the online catalog.

Traveling across the state? We have expanded your book borrowing privileges to over 300 libraries throughout the state of Michigan with the MichiCard program. This allows you to check out print materials from other libraries across the state.

Staying local, but need more in-depth research? As a resident of Macomb County, you are eligible to check out items from the Macomb Community College Library.

24-hour Pickup

The North Branch Library offers a unique after-hours pickup. If you call the library to inform them that you will not be able to pick up your item during normal business hours, the staff will place the book in a locker. The locker is accessible inside the North Branch lobby. By keying in the last 7 digits of the library card number an assigned locker will open up to reveal the checked-out items.
