The North Branch is home to the Geochron clock, which indicates where the sun is shining at any given moment. The left edge of the clock's pattern marks the moment of sunrise, while the right marks sunset. This sunrise and sunset pattern changes continually, as the seasons progress throughout the year. The clock was a gift from the Friends of the Clinton-Macomb Public Library.

Libraries rely on volunteers for many of the "behind-the-shelves" tasks that require attention to detail and love of the library. From teenagers to seniors, volunteers are sought at any age and ability. Call Therese Peticca at (586) 226-5007 for more information or download our applications here:

How To Become A Volunteer

The first step in the process is to fill out an application and turn it in at any one of our locations. We will try to match your skill set with our needs and you will receive a follow-up call regarding what opportunities are available.

Volunteer of the Year 2012

The Clinton-Macomb Public Library would like to recognize Pauline Ruszkowski as the Library Volunteer of the Year. Pauline is a member of the Friends of the Library and has taken charge of the Used Book Nook at the Main Library. She has given over 350 volunteer hours to coordinate volunteer workers at the book nook and organize used books. Thank you Pauline and all the CMPL volunteers for your time and efforts.

Current Volunteering Needs

Used Book Nook - Help staff the Friends of the Library's used book store at the Main Library.
Book sale helpers - duties include publicity, sorting, setting up and selling.
Shelf readers - adopt a shelf and keep it in correct order.
Special program helpers - Find your niche by staffing registration tables, seasonal events, speaker arrangements, refreshments and hospitality.
Share your talent or hobby by helping to facilitate a program for fellow residents.
Greeters - Assist patrons by helping them find reference desks, sections of the library and more.
Green Thumbs - Help care for the plants in and around the Main Library and South Branch. The Main Library offers the opportunity to work indoors or outdoors.
